Welcome to Year Five
Where happy children are expected to set good examples and take on more individual responsibility- an opportunity to develop hidden talents.
Enjoy cross-curricular learning through history topics on The Tudors
and the Victorians. Take part in a "hands on" visit to Ryedale Folk Museum and an interactive visit from the fabulous theatre company, Hautbois. Also, visit Ormesby Hall where we have a really fun day dressing up and working in role as a Victorian. Study the art work of Holbein, Turner and William Morris and
produce some excellent painting, sketching and printing work.
Enjoy reading novels by a range of authors including Anne Fine, Jaqueline Wilson and Michael Morpurgo, in particular Kensuke´s Kingdom which enables us to learn about Japan, water and art work of Dufy and Hokusai.
Take part in lots of exciting and adventurous activities including swimming, dance, gymnastics and outdoor education.
Challenge yourself in practical science sessions. Learn about changes of state and how this affects the weather. Study how sound and light travels, how light bounces and how sound is used to make music. Build circuits with dazzling effects using lights, buzzers and motors. Visit Nunthorpe Secondary School to enrich our scientific investigation.
